You can always recognize a narcissist by the way he treats your needs as if they’re a personal insult to his well-being.

The narcissist demands that you surrender everything to him: Your friends wander off. Your self-esteem is diminished. “Move in and I’ll take care of you,” he says. “Stop struggling against me and you’ll feel cared for.” You do what he says. You surrender. And then he hates you for your weakness. You give him exactly what he wants, you learn to define this as you “being good,” and he rewards you by treating you with contempt.

Please don’t forget that for every person who feels like they’re losing their battle with anxiety, there’s somebody out there who’s managed to wrestle with it and win. Like if anxiety was a crocodile that was trying to eat you but you managed to snap a rubber band over its mouth and now it’s basically just a long embarrassing frog that can’t hurt you.

Passion will tell you that there’s only one thing you love, and one thing you’re meant for, even if, of course, you’re not. Desire is deeper, and calmer, and reasonable. Anything that fogs your ability to use logic will not help you in the long-run.

Wallace’s key argument is that to be human and alive is to be addicted to something, and the real power comes in choosing to what you might find yourself beholden.

A good reminder to stop grinding through the day to day to get to when your life actually starts. Your life has started, you just need to take time to enjoy it.

A fantastic overview of Johnny's Omnifocus setup. Well worth the read if you're unsure of where to start with Omnifocus or just looking for ideas to tweak your existing system.

Spotify's Discover Weekly eerily gets my music taste and this explains why.

“Some people have said, ‘Oh, all three of us had this track on our Discover Weekly, did someone put it there?’” Ogle told me. “And the answer is yes, someone put it there: other Spotify users who were playlisting, which means that something is happening in music culture, in the world.”

The magic that makes Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlists so damn good
