Pocket for Firefox Getting Started Guide

Installation

To install Pocket, make sure you are in Firefox and then simply click the ‘add to Firefox’ button below and follow the on screen instructions.

Add to Firefox

Adding / Removing Pages

To add the page you are currently viewing to your list, simply click the Pocket icon in the location bar. When it turns to a red check the page is now in your reading list. To remove the page, simply click the red checkmark.

Click to Save Mode

You can also quickly add batches of links to your list by using Click to Save Mode. When Click to Save is turned on, when you click a link, it will be added to your list instead of opened by Firefox.

To enable Click to Save Mode, click the icon in the lower right corner of your browser that looks like a black cursor on a red checkmark or use the keyboard shortcut (Alt+M).

Right Click a Link

Right click any link and click 'Save Link for Later'.

Save All Tabs

Overwhelmed with too many tabs? Right click your tab bar and click 'Save All Tabs for Later'. Now you can close them safely!

From other apps, browsers, and devices

Pocket is integrated into a number of popular applications and can be used in any browser (not just Firefox).

How to Sync

Pocket can sync your list to all of your computers and devices. All you need to do is to set the Firefox extension to sync with your account.

1. Open your reading list and click the options button (cog icon)

2. Select the account tab

3. Set your account
If you are already logged into an account it will say 'Logged in as: [username]' at the top. To make sure other computers sync correctly, make sure all of your computers show the same username.

If the username is wrong, click the logout button and relogin to your account.

If you do not have an account already, click sign up (You just need to set a username and password, nothing else). After creating an account, you can use the login button on your other computers to put them into sync.

4. Resyncing
If your list falls out of sync, you can right click the sync icon at the top of your reading list and select 'full sync'. This will resync your entire list.

Merging Accounts

If you have two accounts and would like to merge them into one, check out: How to merge to RIL accounts.

How to Save Content Offline

Read It Later can save the articles in your list for offline reading. To read your content offline, follow these steps:

1. Open your reading list

2. Click the download icon (looks like a down arrow)

3. Click 'Download Reading List'

4. Once your list as been downloaded your content will be available offline.
Anytime Firefox cannot reach a webpage, it will look to see if RIL has stored a copy and if it has it will show you the offline copy in its place.
