How to speak at conferences if you lack confidence

I never thought I would speak publicly for many reasons — not least of all because it’s fucking scary and I have (had?) no idea what I am doing. But for one reason or other I decided this is the time for me to jump right out of my comfort zone. There is never a perfect time to do it.
